Clash of Cultures: The Pilgrims and the People of the First Light

Not to be missed! Come join HLM Board Member Sean Baggett as he leads a post-Thanksgiving, calorie-burning walking tour, exploring the class of cultures between Europeans and Native Americans.

1620 was the pivotal year in the collective consciousness of our national psyche, but for more significant reasons than you may think.  It was a rare period in history where two cultures, normally separated by 5000 years or more, found themselves living alongside one another.  Some of these early experiences have found their way into our national mythology and others have been lost to the wind-blown sands of time.  These early interactions were made by real people, dealing with real challenges, each with their own hopes for the future and their own views of the world in which they both shared.  These first events laid a foundation for our country and set a path for a journey that we are still traveling some 400 years later.  Come join us as we walk the cold and sandy path of the complicated peoples that met here so long ago.

After the tour all are invited to join us at the Lifesaving Museum for coffee, tea and cookies and recap the tour.
